Study intro
Lesson 1
Introduction & EROS LOVE
Begin the lesson by asking the class if they know what holidays are approaching in the month of February…?
- Wait for answers until someone says “Valentines Day”
- Ask, “do you know what Valentines celebrates?!”, then proceed to explain that this holiday celebrates LOVE!
- Explain how LOVE is the most important thing to GOD and that’s the reason why he blessed us with salvation.
- Share the VERSE OF THE MONTH with the class as reference.
VERSE OF THE MONTH:
John 3:16 - For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son. God gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.
Have (x4) teachers/helpers stand in the front of the class, each holding one of the four large pre-made card stock hearts identifying each of the four types of love.
- Explain to the class how there are multiple types of love in the Bible and sooooooo many verses that talk about love but there are Four Main Types Of Love that we must focus on.
- One by one ask each teacher/helper to present themselves by pronouncing their name (name of specific love) and briefly explain what type of love that is.
- Once all four types of love are introduced to the class, announce that we will be learning about these types of loves all month long BUT TODAY we will be focusing on “EROS Love”.
Eros (romantic love): Love between a Man & a Woman (Husband & Wife)
Read: Genesis 2:18 - Then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is right for him. Explain how GOD intends for us to one day find our “soulmate” that will one day become our Husband/Wife. GOD does Not want us to feel/be lonely.
- This love is the “mushy, lovey dovey” kind of love that Mommy’s & Daddy’s have for each other. The kind that gives you butterflies in your stomach because you think someone is good looking ;-P LOL!
- This type of love can sometimes feel confusing because it comes from a physical nature.
This is the type of love you have when you want to start a family with someone.
