Objective: To teach the kids about the organization of the New Testament and how we should live during this time of grace between Jesus’ resurrection and second coming. The New Testament has 27 books.
Main Idea: The New Testament consist of books written about Jesus’ life and the establishments of the church. It is organized by three main sections that explain who Jesus was and how we should behave as Christians.
PREVIOUS LESSON REVIEW: Say, “Last week we learned the Old Testament consists of five sections: The books of Moses (Pentateuch), historical books, wisdom and poetry books, major prophets and minor prophets.” Remind students that each book and each section points to the gospel of Jesus Christ through God’s dealings with His people.
Ask, “How does the New Testament start (with Jesus’ birth and life as told in the Gospels)?” Tell the students that today’s lesson focuses on the sections of the New Testament and how God reveals his plan for mankind through the arrival of Jesus Christ.
Say, “We are currently in the New Testament time: the time between Jesus’ death and his return.”
Gospels/History Books (Matthew to Acts): Say, “These books tell us about Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and the establishment of the New Testament church.
Matthew: One of the Three synoptic Gospels. It tells how Israel’s Messiah Jesus, comes to his people, but is rejected by them and how, after his resurrection, he sends the disciples to the gentiles.
Mark: Tells us of the ministry of Jesus from his baptism to his death, the burial of his body and the discovery of his empty tomb.
Luke: Luke’s Gospel is a call to everyone around the world, whatever our social or moral status, to abandon our futile methods of self-salvation and the leave all to the follow Christ, the great Friend of sinners.
John: John 11:25-27 Explain that Jesus’ response to Martha (one of the sisters of Lazarus) is the epitome of why he came to earth.
Acts: Acts 2:42-47 Ask, “How did the believers in Acts 2 behave (prayer, sacrifice, praise, fellowship, etc)?
We should follow their example of humility in our own church.”

1.) Paper airplane to cross: each child will get a different colored paper. Teachers Have the children do this along with you for a visual learning (lesson and step by step video attached w/ lesson of faith)

Review what those books were ( quick review)
Ask, “How does the New Testament start (with Jesus’ birth and life as told in the Gospels)?” Tell the students that today’s lesson focuses on the sections of the New Testament for Paul’s Letters.
Say, “Paul wrote letters to churches (Romans to 2Thessalonians) and individuals (1Timothy to Philemon).
Paul’s Letters (Romans to Philemon): First, briefly remind students of Paul’s former status and conversion (Acts 9:1-31).
Regardless of his audience, Paul’s letters remind us how to live and act as believers in Jesus.” Read Ephesians 4:2-3

1 & 2 Corinthians: Paul’s Letters to a Troubled Church at Corinth
Galatians: The Epistle to the Galatians emphasizes the faith in Jesus Christ and challenges real approaches to salvation.
Ephesians: Ephesians was written to encourage the believers at Ephesus. Paul reminded them that they are saved by grace through faith as a gift from God. This gift of salvation in Christ includes wisdom, hope, understanding, and an eternal inheritance.
Philippians: The letter to the Philippians was written to encourage the church at Philippi. Paul’s charge to this church was to stand firm in the Lord and shine as lights in a crooked and twisted generation.

Additional Letters (Hebrews-Jude):
Explain that Paul wasn’t the only one who wrote letters – the rest of the books in the New Testament were also letters written by people such as Peter, John, and James, the brother of Jesus. Say, “While we know most of the authors who wrote these books, some are still unknown (example: Hebrews).
Regardless of the author, these letters also remind us how to live and act as Christians."
Read James 1:19-21
Hebrew: in this chapter it was based on faith.
James: Basics of Christian life
1 & 2 Peter: Pay attention to the word of God and live by it.
1, 2, & 3 John: Believers need to remain true to the word (LISTEN TO THE TRUTH!!!)
Jude: Beware of FALSE "teachers" Jude's warning to the believers
Littles:
Bible book toss
1. Everyone in the group should stand in a circle.
2. Give one person a bean bag(or what have you) they will name the book of the bible and then either say next (like hot Potatoe) the one who has the bean bag will have to say the next book of the bible
Middles:
Post it treasure hunt :
Just write the Bible on individual post its and post around the room. Then have the kids search for the kids search the for the books in order
Discuss how the Bible is a treasure and knowing the Bible is the greatest treasure.

First: Review the last book of the Bible Revelations
Explain Jesus is coming back! That’s the great big good news of Revelation. He’s coming back, and He will set things straight.
When you make something for your parent, family, or friend, you reveal it when complete and ready to show. Right? God gave us the book of Revelation because He had something that He wanted to show us. God sees us. He sees how we worship and how we take care of one another.
When we follow Jesus, we are choosing the winning side!

Teacher teachers guess what if you are wrong you get pie to the face!!
Be prepared to get messy!!
Littles: you will review each section of the books of the Bible seek if they can repeat them in order if they get it all right (give them grace) pie to the face! Try to do it all the way to revelation!
Middles:
Challenge who can say the books quickest in each break dow section(the laws: Genesis,Exodus etc.)
If wrong Pie to the face!
If you bet child pie to their face we will have something to cover them up a bit
Once the game review is complete reveal to theme how awesome and proud you are of them in trying to do their best in remembering these books of the Bible and now that they are more equipped with the order of these books they can go deeper into knowing Gods word and knowing where to find the books of the Bible to help them through life.
