Lesson 1

-REVIEW:

Candy tastes good but can make you feel icky, God’s word is sweet and will never make you feel that way! God’s word has some of the sweetest words and advice we will ever receive.

Craft https://pin.it/2REbJVt7y

TOPIC: God’s word is more precious than gold… sweeter than honey

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 30:5

PASSAGE: Psalm 19:10

KEY POINT: Nothing can compare to the sweetness of God’s word

1 first

OPENING/DEMONSTRATION:

(while holding a plate and chewing on some candy

Hello class! Who here can tell me their favorite candy? What does that taste like?

Those are all good right?  Now what about this?? (show them a lemon and talk about how the lemon is sour, bitter and definitely not sweet)…. Now I can eat this sweeter candy all day compared to the lemon!

-2 second

LESSON:  Read to the children….

Psalm 19:10 “More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of honeycomb.”

Does anyone know the sound that a bee makes? (bzzz) And what do they make?.... Honey!!!... and honey is sweet! Well what do you think happens if you eat too much candy or too much honey? (wait for responses) You can get a tummy ache, you probably won’t feel too well and  you can also get cavities….Cavities can hurt us, can cause us pain. But the bible, God’s word, can be sweet and guess what? It won't hurt us, or cause us pain. (If it does its for our good at times haha) Why do you think God’s word is sweet? (Have them give you some answers)

Lesson 2

TOPIC: God’s word is more precious than gold

Now that the children have heard of how sweet the bible can be, let’s continue to show them the importance of it! God’s word is the MOST precious possession in our lives! The bible tells us how to live our lives like Jesus. Let’s bring that to life by showing them that not even gold, the most prized possession on earth, can even compare to the word of God! Remember, we will walk on STREETS of GOLD in Heaven!!!

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 30:5

PASSAGE: Psalm 19:10

KEY POINT: The Bible is worth more than gold!

-1 first

OPENING/DEMONSTRATION: Act out a small skit involving searching for gold inside of a treasure chest! As you’re searching for it you keep repeating how rich you’ll be when you find it and how much gold is inside of the chest. Once you find the chest, you’re happy and fling it open and start pulling out gold gold gold! But at the bottom of the chest is something more than all of this gold… it's a BIBLE! You throw the gold on the floor, it no longer has the value you once thought it did COMPARED to the bible!  You are amazed! You are excited! You are looking at this bible as if it is the MOST PRECIOUS item in this world!!!

-2 second

LESSON:

Read to the children Psalm 19:10… (emphasize on the first half of this scripture) “More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of honeycomb.” Also remember to remind the children of Psalm 19:7-8, how the bible is perfect & pure. Now what was in that treasure chest? (let children respond) We did find a bible in there and did you notice Teacher (so and so) was more excited to see the bible than the gold?! Why do you think that is? (children respond) We all know that gold is expensive right? Some have gold jewelry and they cost a lot of money! Can you imagine walking on gold though? Actual streets of pure gold? That's what God says we will walk on in Heaven! (Rev. 21:1) What seems to be valuable to humans on earth, isn't as valuable to God is it? Just like gold… But what is valuable to Him and FOR us is The Bible! Because that is God’s word.

Bible Scroll Craft

Coffee- already made

● Bowl

● Notebook Paper

● Black Sharpie Marker

● A Scripture From The Bible

● Blow Dryer

● Ribbon

Just pour some coffee into a bowl. Then take your notebook paper and have the child write a scripture on it. Then let them soak the paper in the

coffee for a couple of seconds. Take it out and blow dry it. Then have them roll it up and tie it with a ribbon. Now they have their own personal

scroll. I used the lesson when Jesus was 12 years old and went missing for three days and was found in the teaching in the temple. I wrote the

scripture from Luke 2:49 on my piece of paper.

God Perseveres His Word!

Jeremiah 36:22-23/ 36:27-28

Focus: God's Word will last FOREVER!!!

1 first

Ask these questions:

What is this?(hold the Bible up)

What is the Bible? God’s Holy Word

What does the Bible tell us? Everything we need to know!

And all God's words in this Bible are what? True!!!

The Old Testament is God’s Word and He loves it very much. He will always Preserve it. (Open your Bible to the Old Testament)

Aks: Have you heard the word Preserve?(allow answers)

It means to protect or keep safe. Show them something dear to you or find a toy to use.

Place in a safe area

Ask:

Is it wet or Dry?

Why is it dry? (It’s in a plastic bag)

Correct the bag kept it dry.

Do you think God needs a plastic bag to keep his word safe? (NO!)

God is powerful and wise.He has always protected His Word!

Did you know the Bible is the most popular book in the whole world!!!

There are some people that don’t think Gods word is special at all they might even (whisper the word)Hate God and destroy it(make a sad

face)

Read Jeremiah 36:22-23

Tell them about the King in the story

His name Jehoiakim! He did not love or fear God(shock face)

Continue to read

Ask:

Where was he sitting? (In his house)That’s right! He was in his house near the fire.

What did the king do to God's word?(cut it with a knife and put it in the fire)

Jeremiah 36:27-28

Tell them to listen

Ask:

What did God tell Jeremiah?(allow them to answer)

Say to write another scroll and Gods words again! Gods word cannot be destroyed.

It will last forever! Man cannot destroy it.

Lesson 5

You’re no longer as scared as you were and you aren’t bumping into things because you can see! This is why we should always have our light out, and ready to help us. You see, this here, is my physical light, my flashlight (show your flashlight) Now this here is my spiritual light, the Bible (hold up your bible). The Bible is just like a flashlight but for our life! The Bible (which is God’s word) will always point us to Jesus! And if we have Jesus in our lives, it will light up our world! Especially when it gets dark… Remember class, Jesus is our true light and He came to bring us out of darkness. Without following Christ, we would be left wandering aimlessly in the dark and probably bumping into everything….

LESSON: Read to the class Psalm 119:105 “your word is a lamp unto my feet, a light unto my path”

Now you begin asking questions, does light make it easier to see in the darkness? If God’s word is like light, then when should we use it? The bible always points to whom? How can the bible light up our lives?

CRAFT: https://pin.it/7KSEK6lwF

Instead of it saying “Happy Father’s Day”, we will put “your word is a light unto my path” Psalm 119:105

https://pin.it/5jT9i07HS - Light stencil

https://pin.it/6LfIXDJsR - Flashlight template

TOPIC: God’s word guides our path & God’s word is always true

We have been getting into the importance of the bible and have been learning more on how the bible can change our lives! We just went over how God’s word preserves and lasts forever! Now let’s get into how the word of God is a guide for our lives. In Psalm 119:105, it is letting us know how the word of God is a light unto our path!

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 30:5

PASSAGE: Psalm 119:105

KEY POINT: The bible is like a flashlight that lights up our life!

OPENING/DEMONSTRATION: (Dim down any lights that are on and start painting a mental picture to the children) …  Imagine you are walking through the woods in the dark, you have no idea where you are or where you are going. You can’t see anything in front of you or around you and you kind of keep bumping into things. (Get a little clumsy) It can also be kind of scary because it’s so dark and you don’t know where you are… Then, you remembered that you had a flashlight in your pocket! (Pull out a flashlight & turn it on) Now that you have your flashlight on, you can see the path ahead of you. You needed light to brighten up the pathway!

Lesson 6

CRAFT:  Remember who God is!

ITEMS NEEDED: colored pencils, scissors, brass fasteners, and the template for the spinner wheel

https://kids.cornerstonechurch.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Spinner-wheel-CRAFT-scaled.jpg

 TOPIC: God NEVER lies

This past week we learned how God’s word guides our path! Just like a flashlight, it lights up the path ahead of us. Now we are going to go into how God NEVER lies! God cannot lie! He is perfect, He is not like us, He doesn't need to repent because there is no darkness in Him! And because of this, we can believe His word to be true! His word will endure forever and will not perish!

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 30:5

PASSAGE/S: Titus 1:2 & Hebrews 6:18

KEY POINT: Because God can not lie, what He says is TRUE!

LESSON: (Today we will get right into the bible, we will be going off of the passages…) We can trust the bible and believe what it says right? Do you know why? (allow answers from class) We can trust it and believe it because God cannot lie! Everything He says is true! Look, just like in this bible verse… (open up the bible and read Titus 1:2, emphasizing that God cannot lie!) Did you all hear that? It says in the bible that God, Himself cannot lie! He is all truth! Now let me read to you, part of Hebrews 6:18” …. It is impossible for God to lie” See! God cannot lie! God always stays the same and we can always trust His word. We can believe EVERY promise He has for us!

The bible will guide us, it will show us how to live. It is a light to our path…. That reminds me of our bible verse! Proverbs 30:5… Every word of God is PURE! And because it is pure, it is perfect, we know it must be true. If we continue to believe God’s word and listen to it, our lives will change and we will be able to be more like God.

Read Psalms 119:160

Again in the scripture, God says that his word is true And that we cannot change it

God’s word will last forever

We can say that God’s word is set in stone.

Visual demonstration:

Write on a stone and try to erase it (do this while you explain that God’s word to sit and stone)

Lesson 7

You can’t change Gods word

Ask these questions:

What is this? (hold the Bible up)

What is the Bible? God’s Holy Word

What does the Bible tell us? Everything we need to know!

And all God’s words in this Bible are what? True!!!

review the memory verse, then give acknowledgment with those who did remember

Then say you will continue to read proverbs 30:6

Ask what God says NOT to do(add to his word)

We cannot add to God‘s word as it cannot be changed

What do you think God thinks of those who try to change his?(it would be found a liar.)

God loves his word and he wants it to stay exactly the way he gave it to us. He will punish those who change it.

Read revelations 1:8

Explain that he is alpha and omega the beginning and end

This is explaining that God is eternal

What did God create? (Everything.)

What is one of your favorite things God created? allow answers

Lesson 8

Today we are starting from the very beginning

Genesis 1:1

What are the first four words in the Bible? (in the beginning God….)

Who was in the beginning? (God.)

That’s right the Bible says that God was in the beginning and from what we learned last week, we know that God’s word is always true

God was there before time began.

Guess what God created time, before anything was ever even here and he created everything!

Do you know who created God? (allow Answers. Then say No one.)

No one created God because God always was! God has no beginning. God has always been God! And we know he exist because he created everything.

Visual demonstration:

Hold up a ruler explain how you use it to measure things (measure something in class) explain there’s a beginning and end

Then show a Hulu hoop how it goes in a continuous circle, and there no beginning to the circle

Explain just like the circle has no beginning there’s no beginning to God

It is already completed. And just like with a puzzle you can tell if you take out a piece or if you tried to add another piece that doesn’t belong, you can also see this with the bible. In Proverbs 30:6 “Do not add to his word or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.”

CRAFT:

(Make sure to fill in the hearts with Philippians 1:6 “ And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”

SUPPLIES NEEDED: https://pin.it/6TFgvh4np Printed out template, crayons & scissors

Lesson 9

TOPIC: God’s word in complete

PASSAGE: Revelation 22:18, Proverbs 30:6, Deuteronomy 4:2

KEY POINT: God’s word is complete and you shouldn’t add or take away from it!

LESSON: Show the children a puzzle… start explaining to them about how a puzzle has all the pieces needed to fit together and create this picture. But what if a piece went missing? Would we still be able to get the whole picture? No, we won’t. What if I put in another piece from another puzzle? Would it be complete then? No, it wouldn’t because it wouldn’t match the picture. Just like God’s word… It is already complete! It does not need to have anything taken away from it or have anything added to it!

Lesson 10

Let’s read, Revelations 22:18-19 (emphasizing “if anyone adds to these things” and “of anyone takes away from the words of the book”) Now let’s read Deuteronomy 4:2 (emphasizing on “add to the word” and “take from it”) God is serious about this! He doesn’t want anyone to change what He has already said! There will be some serious consequences if we go against what He says!

CRAFT: https://pin.it/7836p2ynW

(optional:https://pin.it/1J9FetD7M)

SUPPLIES NEEDED: the printed out paper, crayons & colored pencils.

TOPIC: God’s word is complete and doesn’t need anything taken away or added to it!

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 30:5 “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their

trust in Him.”

PASSAGE/S: Revelations 22:18-19, Deuteronomy 4:2, Proverbs 30:6

KEYPOINT: There are big consequences for trying to change the bible!

LESSON: Last week, we learned about how God’s word is complete! Because it is complete, there is no need in changing it, no taking away from it or adding to it. Just like a puzzle! The puzzle is complete and perfect with all of the pieces it has. So now, what do you think would happen if we tried to change the bible and what it says? God has something to say about that!
