Lesson intro
Memory Verse:
Let your favor shine on your servant. In your unfailing love, rescue me. -Psalms 31:16
Point: Shine like bright lights in a broken world
How Can we be a light for Jesus? To be a light for Jesus, we must get ahold of Him and finish the work of the cross. As we grow to know Him more each day, we grow in our commitment to live for Christ and Shine for HIM.

Lesson 1
Hold Firmly
Read: Philippians 2:16 Hold firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of Christ’s return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that my work was not useless.
Explain the scripture meaning.
Continue to say; To be lights in this world we must hold firmly to His word of life.
What does it mean to be firm? Allow answer
What is His Word? Allow answers
We must saturate ourselves in studying Jesus and his nature to see his path for us and looking for how we can be a light to others around us.
We need to look to follow his example and servant attitude. Give an example of Jesus’ heart and him serving others

Spend time daily in reading the Bible, draw near to him. If you need you parents help in reading, ask them as I am sure they would be willing and excited to help you!
Activity:
3yr to 1st: coloring sheet- Jesus is the Light of the New Year
2nd to 4th: Taste Test- set out some different foods on a plate.(remember allergies) Ask the kids to taste one and decide if salty, sweet, or plain.
Explain how we are the salt of the earth and show the Lords sweet love
We don’t want to be plain meaning saying we are Christian but don’t spread the love of the Lord. We must live by example.

Lesson 2
Armor Up
Read Romans 13:12 The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes and put on the shining armor of right living.
Explain the scripture meaning.
Continue to say; Christ return is imminent (ready to take place) and NOW is when it is time to” put on the Shiny armor of right living”
Our citizenship is in heaven (our eternal living)
And we are meant to live as citizens of heaven. To often we fall for ploys and distractions of the world to mold our behaviors and attitudes

Lesson 3
Put into Practice
Read James 1:21-22
So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls. But do not just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

Shining for Jesus is putting in practice what we claim to profess. It is living out through faith what God’s Word declares
Otherwise, we would then be hypocrites (explain)
Our inheritance includes the help and power of the Holy Spirit to walk out and put into practice God’s word. Praise God that He Provides a way to live out all that he asks of us.

3yr to 1st: Let Your Light Shine Craft
2nd to 4th: “Fish bowl Game”
In this game, you will split into two teams whether it’s boys versus girls depending how many kids there are.
This game will be a memory first game. The first person in line will say the first word in the memory verse if correct will go ahead and toss the object into the bowl if they make it the next person in line will come up and say the next word if that’s correct they will go ahead and toss object into bowl and make it go to the next person so forth and so on.
Thursday 3
LW Kid Chefs (dress in clothes you do not mind them getting dirty in)
1 cup of Funfetti Frosting
4 cups of powdered sugar
Sandwich bags
Mix the ingredients until soft play dough consistency then enjoy making letter images so forth kids can take home

Read Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
Continue to say; we all have tendency to want credit and praise for______ (ask the children to fill in the blank)
However, we are meant to reflect Christ, and our aim should bring Him Glory, not for ourselves! We are to be united as a church, and shine for all to see.

3yr to 1st: Craft Coloring Sheet-Let your light Shine Jar
2nd to 4th: Conga Chief- Have everyone find an opponent. It doesn't matter if there's an odd number of players and one person doesn't have an opponent for their first round. Once the teacher says go, everyone plays rock- paper -scissors with their opponent at the same time. The winner of this round becomes the “Conga Chief”, with the defeated opponent forming Conga lines behind each Chief. The Conga Chief goes around the room looking for other Conga Chiefs to play rock-paper -scissors with. The winning Conga Chief captures the entire losing conga line, which must now join behind the winning Conga line. You can play as many times as possible until there is one conga line in the room. ( this game teaches unity)
Thursday 4
Glow Night (dress in neon clothing)
Crack a bunch of glow sticks and then hide them around the room, drop the lights and have kids find them. If you have many colors, you can hide different colors according to age group or have kids only collect one of each color.
